About Study
Why should we Study?
- Understanding ourselves, our world, and our relationship with it is essential for a meaningful human life.
- Study fosters understanding and enables us to live with humanness, achieving happiness, peace, and contentment.
- Study leads to consciousness transformation, revealing the natural order of existence, resulting in resolution (samadhan) and happiness.
- Living in human-consciousness allows us to express awakening, happiness, and humane conduct, fulfilling the ultimate human goal.
Objective of Study
The objective of Study is to transform from animal consciousness to human consciousness:
- Freedom from wrongful mentality (अपराध मुक्ति)
- Freedom from Illusion through knowledge of reality
- Living with humanness, fostering trust, affection, care, and love in relationships
- Participation in promoting an undivided human society and natural world order
- Experiencing and expressing happiness, peace, contentment, and joy
The study approach in Madhyasth Darshan consists of two broad phases:
Phase#1: Preliminary Evaluation
This phase assesses seriousness through need and validity testing via introductory workshops.
Evaluate the proposal through Scrutiny, Examination, & Survey ( निरीक्षण, परीक्षण, सर्वेक्षण) in workshops, discussions, and reading the books to confirm it meets our needs for knowing and living.
Four parameters for testing validity:
- Universal: Naturally acceptable, rational, and experiential for all
- Perennial: Timeless and natural to existence
- Livable: Harmonious with humans and nature
- Communicable: Transferable from one human to another
This phase commits us wholly to this endeavor or way of life.
Phase#2: Study & Practice (अध्ययन और अभ्यास)
After clearing doubts, we commit to serious study and practice, consisting of:
I) Textual Study
- Systematic study of literature for logical understanding
- Gain an intellectual view of reality and human purpose
II) Humane Living
- Practice understood laws in daily life
- Embrace righteousness in wealth, chastity in marital life, and kindness in behavior
- Recognize and fulfill relationships with family and beyond
III) Meditation/Reflection
- Derive inferences from study and practice
- Focus on realities of the conscious self, existence, and humane conduct
- Achieve clarity through glimpses (bhaas) and semblances (abhaas)
- Attain direct perception (sakshatkar) of realities
- Enable evolving consciousness transformation

What Study is Not
- Study (adhyayan) is not just a bookish exercise but requires a teacher with knowledge of reality.
- It’s not only an intellectual exercise but manifests in living, investigating human relationships and nature.
- It’s not a part-time pursuit but requires full-time commitment, lifestyle, and perspective changes.
- Madhyasth Darshan study excludes prevalent meditative practices, eye-closing, chanting, or mystical experiences.
- It does not derive from other philosophies, using similar words with different meanings.
